ETHICAL SHOES 100% MADE IN EUROPE

Exclusively European production and sourcing

When creating the brand, localizing production was a key issue. Our commitment to local production was more than just a desire; it was a necessity.

A EUROPEAN PRODUCTION

Choosing 100% Made in Europe production not only limits our carbon footprint but also supports European factories.

We wanted to collaborate with European producers who shared our ecological values. After extensive research in Portugal and Italy, we opted for artisanal production sites in the Guimarães region of Portugal.

Thanks to this local production, OTA sneakers only travel 1,270 kilometers during production, which is much less than brands known to the general public.

We limit our carbon footprint through 100% European production and exclusively European sourcing. All the materials used to make our shoes come from Europe. Tires, leather, recycled plastic, and recycled rubber are materials that we recover on European soil to limit the carbon footprint of our materials as much as possible. Thanks to this local sourcing, OTA sneakers are manufactured in a small production area measuring 800 kilometers by 200 kilometers.

PRODUCING IN EUROPE ALSO MEANS ENSURING DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYEES

Our values also include respect for our artisan workers. Behind this European initiative, we wanted not only to ensure local production, but also to ensure that our employees work in good conditions.

DECENT WORKING HOURS

Portugal is a country that aligns with European labor regulations. Our workers are protected by strict labor laws. First, by the presence of a minimum wage that amounts to 740 euros gross per month, compared to 32 euros in Bangladesh or 141 euros in Vietnam. Second, by the prohibition of child labor, but also by the level of paid leave, which amounts to 22 days. Finally, by fair and respectful working hours. Workers do not work more than 40 hours per week and stop working at 5 p.m.

Ethical production doesn't stop at the materials used; it also means ensuring decent working conditions for employees.

We are proud to have this eco-label which rewards our many years of research and development to offer a sneaker that respects people and the environment.

EUROPEAN REACH REGULATION

Producing in Europe also means ensuring compliance with European regulations regarding the banning of certain toxic products. We wanted our sneakers to be free of toxic chemicals that are harmful to health and the environment.

OTA is aligning itself with the REACH regulation, which bans chrome VI-tanned leather from the European market. By complying with this convention, we offer environmentally friendly and health-friendly European footwear .
