Exclusively European production and sourcing

When the brand was created, the location of production was an issue of great importance. Our desire to produce on a local scale went beyond mere desire; it was necessary.

 

EUROPEAN PRODUCTION

Choose a 100% Made In Europe not only limits our carbon footprint, but also supports European factories. We wanted to work with European producers who shared our ecological values. After extensive research in Portugal and Italy, we opted for artisanal artisanal production in the Guimarães region of Portugal.

 

We limit our carbon footprint through 100% European production and exclusively European sourcing. All the materials used to manufacture our shoes come from Europe. Tires, leather, recycled plastic, recycled rubber are all sourced in Europe to minimize the carbon footprint of our materials. Thanks to this local sourcing, O.T.A. sneakers are manufactured in a small production basin of 800 kilometers by 200 kilometers. 

PRODUCING IN EUROPE ALSO MEANS ENSURING DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYEES 

Our values also include respect for our artisanal workers. Behind this European initiative, we wanted not only to have local production, but also for our employees to work in good conditions.  

Portugal is a country that complies with European labor regulations. Our workers are protected by strict labor laws. Firstly, there is a minimum wage of 740 euros gross per month, compared with 32 euros in Bangladesh or 141 euros in Vietnam. Secondly, by the ban on child labor, but also by the level of paid vacations, which amount to 22 days. Finally, through fair and respectful working hours. Workers do not work more than 40 hours a week, and stop work at 5pm. 

 

Ethical production doesn't stop at the materials used, it also means ensuring decent working conditions for employees.  

 

 OUR SNEAKERS ARE CERTIFIED BY DER BLAUER ENGEL

This German eco-label, created in 1978, is awarded to products with a low environmental impact. Criteria are based on the use of raw materials, water, land and air pollution, energy efficiency, product durability and ease of recycling.

 

We're proud to have this eco-label, which rewards our many years of research and development into sneakers that respect both people and the environment.

 

 EUROPEAN REACH REGULATIONS

Producing in Europe also means complying with European regulations banning certain toxic products. We wanted our sneakers to be free of toxic chemical substances harmful to health and the environment. O.T.A is in line with REACH regulations, which ban chrome VI-tanned leathers from the European market. In line with this convention, we offer eco-friendly European footwear and harmless to health.
